It has been my privilege to have the help of Christian Science...

It has been my privilege to have the help of Christian Science from birth. I attended the Christian Science Sunday School as a pupil for sixteen years and shortly after the age of twenty I reëntered as a teacher. I had come to the realization that for growth in grace there must be constant giving. Two years later it was my joy to have class instruction, for which I am very grateful. It quickened and stimulated my desire for deeper study in the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's works.

My physical and mental healings have been numerous, and the protection I have enjoyed from temptations and pitfalls are still more numerous. My gratitude for the latter is especially great. I had many of the so-called children's diseases, but I never suffered from them. I can thank my mother for seeking Christian Science help when the ailments were in the incipient stage, and most of them were very quickly overcome.

When I was a boy in school I fell from the limb of a tree and landed on an asphalt road beneath, striking my shoulder and head. A stranger passing telephoned for an ambulance and I was rushed to a hospital, unconscious. My mother was soon notified and she immediately secured the aid of a practitioner. The shoulder and head had been badly cut. The doctors thought I had a fractured skull and believed my condition too serious to permit an X-ray until the next day. That evening when my parents visited me I told them I felt perfectly well and strong. At that time the superintendent was showing a visitor around and came to me and asked how I felt. I replied that I thought I could walk out now. He said, "Oh, that would be impossible." Half an hour later my father secured my release and I walked out of the hospital. The healing was not quite complete at that time, but within eleven days all the marks of the accident had vanished and I was back to normal.
