Among the Churches

Current Notes

Wichita Daily Times

Wichita Falls, Texas (First Church).—Conversion of a frame structure erected in 1921 at Tenth and Van Buren Streets into a modern stucco and stone church building of impressive appearance recently has been completed by First Church of Christ, Scientist, which is now using the new auditorium for its regular meetings. Moved southward from its original location facing Tenth Street, the church house now fronts on Van Buren. With architecture of modified English design, the building rises to a two-story height with the use of sharply arched gables in the north and south elevations. With the resulting expanse of roof, in dark red tile, the front elevation of the building is noticeably pleasing. The exterior walls are of cream-colored stucco, with cornice, window, and door trim in moss green. The entrance is surmounted with a Gothic arch harmonizing in line with the end gables, and is equipped with wrought-iron lanterns for illumination of a single flight of stone steps.—Wichita Daily Times.
