With regret I have observed in your esteemed paper a reprint from another publication, which had previously copied from a third paper a criticism of Christian Science which finally appeared in your June 14 issue. I shall refer first in particular to that portion of the reprint which reads, "Christian Science is neither Christian nor science."

The early days of Christian Science witnessed attacks by opponents who disagreed with its teachings and devised the carelessly framed remark just quoted, and so frequently has the ineptitude of that criticism been shown that it seems scarcely necessary to reply to this latest revival of its use. However, for the benefit of any of your readers who may have been misled to give credence to what that unfair arraignment of Christian Science implies, I submit the following brief statements.

Christian Science is preeminently Christian because it is unreservedly based on the compassionate teachings of Christ Jesus, who declared that the lives and works of his followers should rightly be known and judged "by their fruits." The fruitage of Christian Science, as attested by the many thousands who have experienced healing of sin and disease through its teaching, is identical with that which accompanied the healing ministry of the Master and is a demonstrated fulfillment of his words, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."
