The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Kingston, Jamaica, British West Indies (Society).

Lecturer: Salem Andrew Hart; introduced by Rupton Williamson, who said:—

Several years ago I was led, through sheer curiosity, to read the book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I was very much impressed with the ideas presented therein, and while they seemed at the time revolutionary, they were none the less reasonable and logical. They were ideas about God and man, and man's relation to God; and I was not averse to learning more of the nature of God and man, if it were possible.

Christ Jesus said, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." I did not realize until then that there was such truth as this to be known, and that the knowing of it would liberate mortals from the bondage of material thinking. I was soon able to prove that such was the case, for I was healed of the tendency to take colds, a condition which had persisted since I was a child.
