Prompted by profound gratitude to God, I feel urged...

Prompted by profound gratitude to God, I feel urged to tell of the beautiful experiences I have had through the teachings of Christian Science.

Over ten years ago I had a sore finger for six months. When a chiropodist visited my mother I showed her the finger, and she said that the disease was wet herpes and that there was danger of its spreading all over my body. In a few days the troublesome eruption, which for six months had been visible only on my middle finger, spread all over my hand; and this in spite of the fact that I had washed my hands frequently in a solution which she had recommended. I gave up this practice at once, for I had a clear proof that even admitting that an evil condition exists helps to promote its claim. This recognition and the slight understanding of Christian Science which I had helped me to the extent that the next day the eruption was again confined to its former size. This experience inspired me to study more of the practical truth which Mrs. Eddy has again to light. During this time of honest seeking the complaint disappeared altogether at times, but returned again as soon as I admitted it into thought. At last, after a year, when I had fully recognized its nothingness, it no longer returned.

An attack of the grippe and of lumbago yielded within three or four days without leaving the slightest weakness. Through reading the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly attentively for a whole week, I was healed of a very painful gathering under my thumbnail, which had cost me a sleepless night. The ulcerated swelling did not yield for a few days, but there was not the slightest pain. Since then I have read the Bible Lesson every day, and in doing so have learned more highly to appreciate the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which is indeed a "key" to the Scriptures.
