According to your synopsis of a sermon recently delivered in Wichita Falls, a revivalist went out of his way to misrepresent the teachings of Christian Science, perhaps all unintentionally.

However, it should be possible for those who fail to understand or appreciate Mrs. Eddy's teachings to disagree with her without making such aspersive insinuations as those attributed to the minister in question, who is reported as having said, in connection with some alleged discrepancies between her writings and the Scriptures, that "either God or Mrs. Eddy has been too economical with the truth."

Purporting to state Mrs. Eddy's position regarding man and sin, our critic quotes her as saying, "Man is incapable of sin;" whereas the complete quotation is (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, pp. 475, 476): "Man is incapable of sin, sickness, and death. The real man cannot depart from holiness, nor can God, by whom man is evolved. engender the capacity or freedom to sin. A mortal sinner is not God's man. Mortals are the counterfeits of immortals. They are the children of the wicked one, or the one evil, which declares that man begins in dust or as a material embryo."
