The Lectures

Lewistown, Montana (First Church).

Lecturer: W. Stuart Booth; introduced by Burton R. Cole, who said:—

Jesus said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science and the author of its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," says to us (p. 323): "We must recollect that Truth is demonstrable when understood, and that good is not understood until demonstrated." These statements are not to be taken as true merely because they were made on the one hand by Christ Jesus and on the other by Mrs. Eddy. They made them because they were true, and they knew them to be true because they had proved them to be so. Another important fact concerning these remarkable statements is that they may be proved to be true by anyone, since the means of knowing and demonstrating the truth are attainable by all. It remained for Mrs. Eddy to discern, prove, state, and teach that God's power is available to all; that it is practical and demonstrable, healing, purifying, and sustaining. By stating in simple and comprehensible form the Science of divine healing, she has made it possible for any sincere seeker to obtain spiritual understanding and through it to gain admittance to health, happiness, worthy accomplishment, and true success. I myself have been healed of many ailments. I mention only one, defective vision, which had required the use of glasses for fifteen years. It was healed completely nearly twenty years ago through Christian Science. Brooklyn, New York (First Church).
