The Christian Science Monitor

One of a series of religious addresses now being given over station WABC, operated by the Atlantic Broadcasting Corporation, in this city, was radiocast yesterday [October 28] at 5 p.m., by Judge Clifford P. Smith, Committee on Publication of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Judge Smith spoke on "The A B C of the Christian Science Religion." His address follows:

Christian Science is the religion founded by Mary Baker Eddy and represented by the Church of Christ, Scientist. It is a Christian faith and practice based directly upon the words and works of Christ Jesus, as distinguished from later creeds and customs. Mrs. Eddy has defined it as "divine metaphysics" and as "the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 111; Rudimental Divine Science, p. 1).

Jesus declared that the purpose of his life was to "bear witness unto the truth." What he taught and proved was the reality or truth of being. It was the truth as to God and man and as to God's law for man. It was the truth as to God's goodness, as to man's life derived from God, and as to the real man's freedom from what seems to be a life of mingled good and evil.
