I am grateful, first, to have been brought up in a Christian Science family. What this means, with all its tender care and guidance, I am realizing more and more. I can truthfully say that I have never tasted a drop of medicine. God has been my only physician, and has never failed in time of need; for we learn in Christian Science that God, divine Love, is always near.

A few years ago, a very malignant form of skin disease appeared all over my body, seemingly contracted through contagion, and caused me much distress. For four months my faith and courage were severely tested, but at the end of that time, with the loving help and tender encouragement of others, the disease vanished into oblivion.

For every proof of God's ever-presence I am sincerely grateful. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church, for class instruction, for all the literature, for the lectures, and to Mrs. Eddy, who worked untiringly to make these possible. How true is God's promise to Israel, "Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."
