In your recent issue you have again put before your readers an attack upon Christian Science and upon its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, giving the editor of the Paris (Missouri) Mercury as your authority. Neither you nor the editor of the Mercury can possibly know these statements to be true, and you both have assumed grave moral responsibility in publishing statements concerning a gentle New England woman which any open-minded investigator could easily learn to be utterly false. The ever multiplying results from Mrs. Eddy's selfless devotion to the good of humanity are acknowledged from one end of the earth to the other. Her life is an open book and needs no defense.

The Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," which Mrs. Eddy gave to the world, has been translated into French and German, and is to be found in all the great libraries of the world. The reading of this book has opened the Scriptures to millions of people, and lifted them out of despair and sin and sickness. And, yet, the editor of the Paris (Missouri) Mercury calls it "jargon"! If he were to read this book with an open mind, bringing the "ancient sacrifice" of a humble and a contrite spirit, he surely would find help for mind and body in such study.
