With a heart full of gratitude I wish to testify to the way in which God rescued me from deep distress. In climbing on a chair I fell, striking myself suddenly and with such force on the sharp edge of the chair back that I felt as if my chest had been crushed in. I was so frightened that at first I could not think at all; then I tried to realize God's omnipresence. This thought protected me from collapsing altogether. I then dragged myself to my usual place, to read in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but was obliged to give it up as I could not grasp the sense of what I was reading in my condition at the time; for the pain had greatly increased, and especially was my heart affected.

The hours which followed, before the practitioner for whom I had sent could come to me, were agonizing. I thought I was nearing my end. But thanks be to God, in my greatest distress the wonderful text kept coming to my consciousness: "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: ... thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." I was able, the next morning after the work of the practitioner had begun, to take up my household duties. A few days later I was completely healed, and every sign of this serious accident had been wiped out.

I can truthfully testify to this and many other healings of sickness and adverse conditions through Christian Science.
