[Written for the Sentinel]

Receiving

The lilies at the dawn of day
Held lovely faces up,
Where fragrance, beauty, color. lay
Unhindered in the sunbeam's ray,
And filled each lucent cup.

So one who lifts his thought to light,
In love desiring more,
Finds joy, intelligence, and might
Are showered on his clearer sight
From Love's exhaustless store.
