The Lectures

Introductions to Lectures

Berlin, Germany (Second Church).

Lecturer: Miss Margaret Murney Glenn; introduced by Mrs. Selma Schmidt, who said:—

In the Book of books, the Holy Bible, we read in Isaiah: "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!" The beauty and profound truth contained in this Bible passage dawned upon my consciousness during the first lecture I heard on Christian Science, fifteen years ago. On that evening it became clear to me that God reigns, that His kingdom is the kingdom of peace and harmony, wherein sin, sickness, death, sorrow, trouble, lack, hatred, envy, or whatever the errors which fetter mankind be called, are unknown; and that this kingdom which Jesus of Nazareth revealed to the world is not far distant, but a divine state of consciousness, and therefore is a present possibility for each one of us. It was the recognition of this fact which lifted me out of years of sickness and affliction, set my feet on firm ground, and gave me the peace "which passeth all understanding."
