[Written for the Sentinel]

My Prayer

O Make my life a light that glows
More bright from day to day;
That those who toil in loneliness
May look and find Thy way!

O make my life a song of joy,
E'en though in desert bare;
That lonely hearts may hear the song,
And know that Thou art there!

O make my life a ray of hope,
A stream from fountain pure;
That all discouraged, sick with doubt,
May come and find a cure!

O may my life so truthful be,
And Thou so well expressed,
That searching ones who look for good
May find Thee, and be blessed!

May I my life so humbly live,
So free from taint of pride,
That mortal law shall be annulled,
And Thou be glorified.
