Christian Scientists in Racine, as well as other readers of your paper, take serious objection to remarks recently made by a minister of the gospel in addressing Laymen's Bible Union, Racine, and reported by you in a recent issue. The reverend gentleman asserts that "Christian Scientists deny the deity of Christ," and further states that "the results are immorality and looseness in living." The latter statement, I am sure, no fair-minded audience would take seriously, knowing through personal observation that the lives and deportment of Christian Scientists compare favorably with those of any other Christian sect. As to the denial of the divinity of the Christ, one can judge for himself by a careful study of one section of our church tenets as recorded on page 497 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, which reads as follows:

"4. We acknowledge Jesus' atonement as the evidence of divine, efficacious Love, unfolding man's unity with God through Christ Jesus the Way-shower; and we acknowledge that man is saved through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death."
