The method of healing pain and disease in Christian Science is not to "imagine you have not got it and cure yourself." Christian Science is not based upon a negation, but upon the definite and positive truth taught by Christ Jesus, who said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." A Christian Scientist must study the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. As he does this, he learns more about God—omnipotent and omnipresent good—and man made in His likeness, having dominion over all; and in the measure that he understands and applies his understanding, he is able to overcome disease, whether it is termed functional or organic. Such healing has nothing in common with human will-power, hypnotism, or suggestion.
