[Written for the Sentinel]

My Talent

A little talent, Lord, Thou gavest me;
It proved a sunbeam in my heart.
And yet I failed to see
Wherein it too might bless my fellow-man
And to some seeking one a little light impart,
It seemed so small a thing.
And so I hid it deep within my heart,
And watered it and tended it
And watched it grow and smile,
Praying each day to be in Thy great plan
Something worth while.
'T was long before I saw the talent lying there
Was Thy most gracious answer to my prayer,
It seemed at first so small a thing.
