For a good many years I was troubled with a chronic form of appendicitis, coupled with hereditary heart trouble, together with indigestion in a very pronounced form. On top of it all, I was an excessive user of tobacco. This developed nervous troubles that irritated me a great deal, and minimized my pleasure and usefulness in life.

A lady who lived near us left a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy at our home, with the suggestion that I read it to restore my health. Being a great reader of various kinds of literature, I glanced inside it occasionally, but became only mildly interested in it. During that time, however, I gradually grew better; but not until one morning when another difficulty presented itself, did I try to apply Christian Science. After earnest reading and prayer I arose from my bed, dressed, and had started down town before I realized that I was healed. This opened the eyes of both my wife and myself; and from then on we made a conscientious effort to read and study this wonderful book. For several months we were diligent; then ensued lapse of interest, caused by vacation periods; and only in the year following did something remind us of the healing grace of God. The old troubles presented themselves very positively; and one evening I was forced to decide which way I should turn. Practically staggering to a Christian Science practitioner, I was received with love and kindness; my fears were quieted; and I returned home much relieved. Later I went to another practitioner, who not only brought healing for all my physical troubles—appendicitis, heart trouble, indigestion, and the tobacco habit—through the application of Christian Science, but taught me how to understand more about God as presented in Christian Science.

Our effort from then on has been to know more about God. Every discord has been met and overcome in our home and business. Our little daughter's school work has been guided by Science; everything has been turned over to God; and He has never failed us in the slightest degree when we have come to Him aright. We are indeed very grateful for the healing power of Christ. We are very grateful for the loving practitioners who have helped us in obtaining our release from bondage. We are most grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who has made the way so plain; also for the Christian Science literature she has left us, which is serving us as our only guide in reading and studying the Bible.—Herbert W. Hildebrant, Kansas City, Mo.
