Christian Science does not deny that disease is a phase of human experience. On the contrary, it directly deals with all diseased conditions as effects of false material beliefs entertained in human consciousness. This being true, it logically follows that in order to heal disease we must first correct the erroneous thinking which operates as its procuring cause. Obviously, the way to correct wrong thinking is by knowing and applying the truth; and here Christian Science adds, even that truth to which the Master referred when he said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." That is to say, Ye shall know the true nature and character of man and his relation to God; and knowing this ye shall be freed from the ill effects of all false theories relating thereto. The Principle of the religion taught and practiced by Christ Jesus, and accepted in its entirety by Christian Science, is God, not a belief; and God, the Scriptures clearly indicate, is Life, Truth, and Love, which, if we are to accept the Scriptural teachings, constitute the triune Principle of true religion. Religion, thus considered, ceases to be an aggregation of variable human beliefs unrelated to Principle; it becomes an absolutely demonstrable Science.
