Christian Science teaches that the material universe and man are false human concepts of spiritual creation and spiritual man. Because there is but one God there can be but one kind of creation, and that creation, like its creator, spiritual, good, and indestructible. Christ Jesus fulfilled the law of Spirit in its entirety when he rose above all belief in the reality of matter, the opposite of Spirit, in that experience known as the ascension. This could only have come to pass when the last vestige of materiality, the last thought connecting him in any way to earth, had been destroyed. This act proved the reality of spiritual existence and the unreality of material existence, and the fact that it is possible for all so to understand the nature of God and man that they can do likewise. To that dense mental state which believed in the reality of both matter and Spirit, Christ Jesus' teaching certainly did not bring peace; neither can it do so to-day. The world's troubles are due to its resistance to Truth; and it will have peace only when it yields up its false material beliefs and is receptive and responsive to Spirit and spiritual law. When the word "reality" is used in Christian Science, it is in the sense expressed in the following passage on page 335 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Reality is spiritual, harmonious, immutable, immortal, divine, eternal. Nothing unspiritual can be real, harmonious, or eternal. Sin, sickness, and mortality are the suppositional antipodes of Spirit, and must be contradictions of reality."
