When taking up the study of Christian Science I had access...

When taking up the study of Christian Science I had access to the Sentinel through the loyal work of the local literature distribution committee, and used to turn first of all to the testimonies, which were so beautiful and wonderful to me that they seemed like a continual song of praise to God for His goodness. After reading a Christian Science lecture, my desire to know more about God led me to obtain the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. For many days all my spare moments were given to the reading of this book. During this time a great love for all mankind filled my thought and my one desire was to do something to help others. As a result of this study I found myself free from the necessity of wearing glasses and from the fear of tubercular trouble, which I had been told was hereditary in my family. A number of warts which had appeared on my hands some months before also disappeared. Later came healing from stomach trouble, chronicbowel disorder, colds, and other minor ailments. A dislike for animals, because of my fear of them, has been overcome, and this has made me very happy.

Words cannot express my gratitude for the sense of protection that comes to us through knowing the omnipresence of God, good. In the Bible and all through Mrs. Eddy's writings, as well as in our Hymnal, again and again are we reminded of His love and presence. My heart is filled with gratitude to our revered Leader for her wisdom in establishing the different activities of the Christian Science movement, that through these the love of God may be revealed to all mankind everywhere.
