In 1901 I went to Oregon for a change of climate because the physicians who were attending me helped me but little. I was troubled with severe headaches very often, besides other distressing ailments, and one doctor said I had ulcers of the stomach. I began to realize that medicine did not help me at all, and when a change of climate was suggested, I grasped at that as something that might be a help. While we were in Portland our little boy, about twelve years of age, who was never very strong, became ill. We were advised to take him to a Christian Science practitioner and did so, with the result that he was healed in one night and has been well and strong ever since. I then had treatments for myself, but my healing was slower.

All the pills and powders that we had taken from home went into the fire as soon as our son was healed. Since that time all the members of our family have been reading Christian Science literature, all but one are members of The Mother Church, and my husband and I have had class instruction. We have used no material remedies since that time, as the power of Truth has been sufficient to supply our daily needs. Physical ailments are disappearing through the application of Christian Science, and I am very grateful for a better understanding of the Bible, gained through the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon. I am grateful also for having learned that God is good and good only, which is so different from what we were taught in the old way. I am thankful to God for the physical healing, but far more for the spiritual uplift, and am grateful to Mrs. Eddy and to all who helped me on the way.
