For many years I was an earnest seeker after truth, and during that time investigated nearly all the known isms. They failed to satisfy me, and although prejudiced against what I thought Christian Science to be, I was forced to turn to it, since there seemed nothing else left and I had to have a spiritual anchor. My progress was very slow, but gradually I began to realize that I had found the truth. Then I wondered why greater progress was not being made, and became impatient and discouraged.

After passing through various tests which proved to me that "divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494), I found out why I was still groping in the dark. I was remaining in the valley of indecision, and although I desired spiritual understanding, yet I was unwilling to take a definite stand for Christian Science or to give up material pleasures. When finally through suffering and sorrow I became willing to obey the Bible injunction, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you;" when I gave up self-will and said, "Thy will be done," then I began to see more light, and to gain more understanding of the truth which makes men free. One of the difficult lessons I have had to learn is that "the human footsteps leading to perfection are indispensable" (Science and Health, p. 254). I wanted to make the journey from sense to Soul a very short and rapid one, but I have learned that although we can take only one step at a time, each step is illumined by Love, and we never make a misstep when we trust to divine guidance.

I have experienced many healings through the application of the truth; among them, the healing of a rash, of melancholia, nervous exhaustion, headache, colds, and functional disorders. My one desire is to live in accordance with the teachings of our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and by so doing follow the command of our Master, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
