From the Press

[Translated from L'Echo des Gourbis, the Newspaper of the Trenches]

The Americans are sending to us soldiers, war material, ammunition, provisions of every kind. It seems that they are also sending us missionaries. For some time now we have been receiving parcels of pamphlets, very well edited, and addressed to the heads of sections, particularly (by what curious choice) to the adjutants. In the last that we received there were ten pamphlets, and here are some of the titles: "Prayer and Healing;" "Christian Science: The Comforter of Promise;" "Christian Science: A Religion of Progress;" "Mary Baker Eddy: Her Purpose and Accomplishment;" "Christian Science: The Gospel of the Kingdom;" "Christian Science: Its Advantage to Mankind." The text is in English on one page and French on the opposite page. The covers bear the word "French."

These pamphlets are sent out, so its followers say, if not to initiate us into a new religion, at any rate to initiate us into a new way of understanding religion.
