If the charge made by the reverend critic be true, that the teaching of Christian Science is opposed to God's Word, how are we to account for the fact that thousands of people who never before took any interest in the Bible, have become, after reading the Christian Science text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, Bible students and now love and revere the Bible? The good Book says, "A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."

This critic claims that Christian Science denies the divinity of Jesus. Christian Science does not deify Jesus, but glorifies his name in accord with his own words as given in the seventeenth chapter of John's gospel. Jesus taught all mankind to worship not his personality but God. Speaking of Jesus resurrection, Mrs. Eddy says that "the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter" (Science and Health, p. 497).

As a result of Mrs. Eddy's teachings we have better citizens; students have an increased faith in God; a greater impetus is given to Bible study; a greater desire has been awakened to follow in the footsteps of Christ Jesus. The great Master said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." Since Mrs. Eddy's teaching leads mankind to God and the acceptance of Christianity, it cannot be opposed thereto.
