Spiritual Understanding

I know, e'en
when I do not see, Just as I know the mountain peak
Though swathed in fog there still must be:
I know—with joy then I may speak!

I know, and not with faltering faith,
For faith is vain unless we know:
'Tis not like earth's deceiving wraith—
The child of sense, a fading show.

I know that Life eternal is,
Death cannot hide it e'en a while;
I know in Truth and Love is bliss:
I there may live and love and smile.

Ah, precious joy! This too I know:
The healing balm of Love's embrace;
And quickly dreams of error go—
In Mind I see, I know His face!
