Since taking up the study of Christian Science I have been...

Since taking up the study of Christian Science I have been freed from a number of physical ailments, and am glad to testify that whatever improvement has been accomplished in that or any other direction is due entirely to this agency. I have learned that Christian Science not only heals the sick and cleanses the sinner, but it also makes plain the exact way in which the good work is done, so that a Christian Scientist always has in his possession an ever present help for each problem.

When this study was taken up in a fair and open-minded manner, it was observed that associations began to assume a more pleasing aspect, and the tendency to become angered, and to submit to those other emotions and impulses which have never brought anything but sorrow and suffering to humanity, became less and less frequent. Simultaneously with the disappearance of these false witnesses, physical suffering vanished, giving place to health and peace. While the physical condition was the one thing in mind which seemed to need correction, and it was for this purpose that Christian Science was taken up, yet there was a blessing in store which has proved to be all and more than was expected. While materia medica was being given a fair and unprejudiced chance to bring relief physically, orthodox theology was also being given a fair chance to answer those questions which are sure to come when one is honestly searching for God. Even at that time I was not willing to accept the husks, and not until the first Christian Science treatment did I have any thought that at last the answer was to be received, although confident that the truth would some day appear.

It is just to say that those who tired to direct me spiritually, before I sought help in Christian Science, as well as those who tried through material means to heal me physically, made a sincere and honest effort according to the light they had, and there can be no doubt of their desire to do good. But, apparently in proportion to the degree of sincerity and honest endeavor on their part, the conclusion was convincingly brought home to me that they did not have the exact knowledge which the world has accredited to them. I am glad to acknowledge now, as a Christian Scientist, a sufficient sense of love for all those who tried to help me.
