About a year ago I caught a severe cold, which was followed by a serious condition of the throat. Shortly before this occurred, I had heard of Christian Science through a dear friend in America, and I also knew that there were several Christian Science practitioners in Frankfort-on-the-Main. I had thought of asking for help; and after I had been laid up for seven or eight days, stricken with high fever and unable to take even milk, when the woman who was caring for me informed me that she would be unable to do so any longer unless I was moved to her home, I decided to write to a practitioner, and ask her to call on me.

About five o'clock that afternoon I felt a sudden change, and I immediately knew that I was being ministered unto, as I was able to drink some milk without difficulty and had recovered my speech. About an hour later a very kind lady came to see me, and explained the nature and scope of Christian Science. When mention was made of the hour in which I had experienced improvement, we shared the joyous surprise of finding that the healing had taken place at the instant when the true and good thought action began in my behalf. On that same evening I ate some solid food, and on the following day I got up and attended to my housework, with the sense of being perfectly restored. The lady who had been instrumental in my recovery through Truth and Love was not an advertised practitioner, but she was a faithful adherent of Christian Science teaching, and had manifested much love and appreciation of everything that is true, good, and beautiful; the practitioner had sent her to me because her own time was taken up.

Since that healing I have experienced many good and great things through the apprehension and acceptance of the true ideas which Christian Science brings us; and in one instance where Christian Science seemed to fail, this was due solely to my mistaken attitude toward Truth, for Truth never fails. It is we who fail to come into perfect harmony with divine Truth. To strive after this purest, highest, and most sublime goal should be our constant and sole desire, since the fulfilment of this desire includes all happiness and bliss. I give sincere thanks to all who have helped me to apprehend this glorious concept of life.
