THE LECTURES

At a lecture on Christian Science delivered in the auditorium of City hall by Virgil O. Strickler, the speaker was introduced by J. Frank Bole, member of the Legislative Assembly, who said:—

I can assure you that it was with great deal of pleasure that I accepted the kind invitation to preside at this meeting tonight. Not that I am a Christian Scientist, but any one who is awake to what is going on around him must recognize that Christian Scientists are fast becoming a potent factor in the religious and social life of the world. When new ideas are put forward, ideas that are not in line with what is generally considered orthodox, we are likely to get a wrong impression and do not give them the proper reception. Any supposed weakness is exaggerated and attacked, instead of accepting the best that is in them as another great force for the betterment of the world. I am satisfied that after hearing the lecturer tonight many of us will carry away a different impression from that formerly held.
