Since childhood I had been afflicted with all manner of disease, and when only a child underwent several operations. As I grew older, a trouble which the physician called scrofula again spread on the left knee, and later over the right arm. The physician prescribed some treatment which relieved the condition at first, but had no lasting effect. I was unable to use my right arm in working; the physician besides had told me not to move about at all, as in his opinion the least concussion might prove fatal. As I did not want to submit to another operation, we tried other treatment, but I experienced relief only for a short while. However, man's extremity is God's opportunity.

After we had tried everything else, relatives who were themselves seeking for health called my attention to Christian Science. Soon after I went to Berlin, and a practitioner treated me. After the first treatment I improved, and experienced a sense of peace and contentment unknown before. I was under treatment for two months, and during that short time was completely healed, although absent treatment was given for some time longer. During these four years inharmonious conditions which have tried to manifest themselves have all been overcome with the help of a faithful practitioner, and I have also been enabled through my small understanding to prove the power of Truth.

Although I have taken but few English lessons, and had no knowledge whatever of this language before, yet I am able to read the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and enjoy doing so. I am very grateful for the Herold, which enables us to understand this teaching. As we have no opportunity of attending services, and are with our relatives the only Christian Scientists in this locality, we are grateful that we can hold our service alone, if required. I am grateful for the physical healing, but I am still more so for the spiritual blessings which Christian Science brings us. I am aware that there is much error yet for me to overcome, but I shall earnestly strive to prove my gratitude by becoming purer and better with advancing years. For all these blessings I am infinitely grateful to God, and to our beloved Leader, who has shown us the way to divine Love.
