I cannot sufficiently express my gratitude for all the blessings I have received since first hearing of Christian Science. For thirty years, previous to 1909, I had suffered continuously from numerous complaints, the chief of which were an internal displacement, heart trouble, and an affection of the eye. There were also several minor troubles, complications of the above, which caused intense suffering. For three years I could not lie down in bed properly; I was obliged to wear an abdominal belt, also an elastic bandage for varicose veins. At times dropsical conditions were very apparent.

At this time a friend invited me to a Christian Science testimony meeting, and after hearing the testimonies which were given I decided to ask for help. A practitioner took my case in hand and gave me treatment for several weeks, during which time I was greatly benefited. A few weeks later there was a return of the heart trouble during the early hours of the morning, at which time there was no means of reaching a practitioner; so, taking our dear Leader's words, "When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea" (Science and Health, p. 495), as my guide, I was enabled to overcome the attack in a very short time, and have had no further return of this trouble. As I gained a clearer understanding, I was able to leave off the belt and bandages, also glasses which I had worn as protection for my eyes.

I am now perfectly healed, and my heart is filled with gratitude to God for the revelation of Truth gained through the teachings of Christian Science. My hope now is that my daily life will be always an expression of love to God, and of gratitude to Mrs. Eddy for the spiritual light which I have received.—Mrs. Emma Swift, Halifax, England.
