Transparency does not obstruct the light

Transparency does not obstruct the light. Only opaqueness casts a shadow; and turning away from the sun, it sees that shadow and forgets that the sun is still shining. So mortal belief, dense to the rays of the truth of Spirit, casts its own shadow of material selfhood, and believes it sees a bodily personality, manifesting sin, disease, and death. Turning away from the Sun of righteousness, it fancies the light of good has ceased to shine. Only as belief becomes less material, as thought is cleared of its grosser elements, does its own shadow begin to melt into nothingness. Only as consciousness becomes wholly spiritualized, flooded throughout with divine illumination, is absolute and infinite reality revealed,—the allness of Love and its perfect idea,—and evil and matter no longer even seem to be.—Mary Wheeler.
