[Written for the Sentinel.]

FRET NOT THYSELF!

Fret not thyself! Be patient, strive to prove
The depth and vastness of our Father's love;
When waves break high and winds blow fierce and chill,
Our God who rules the storm cries, "Peace, be still."

Fret not thyself! God's white-robed angel throng
Encampeth near,—so near their glorious song
Swells far above earth's roar and battle din
And drives afar the myriad hosts of sin.

Fret not thyself! Our God is All-in-all,
His angels guard thy steps lest thou shouldst fall;
Our Father-Mother God,—for Love divine
Fills and o'erflows with love this heart of mine.
