About seven years ago I became acquainted with Christian Science, after having suffered for seventeen years with a very bad case of stomach trouble, which was so serious that for three years the physicians had been able to give me only temporary relief by hypodermic injections. They used to tell my family I would never stand another spell. A dear Christian Scientist came to our home when all material remedies had been exhausted and all hope was gone. She began to unfold the truth to us, and in my desperate condition I was ready to grasp it, for I felt I had reached mortal man's extremity. She gave me treatment, and I began to improve. We moved from that place, and it being more convenient, I had treatment from another practitioner. In a short time I was sound and well, but through reverses and misfortunes, which were suggestions of mortal mind, I became indifferent to Truth, and through not doing my work I drifted back to the mortal dream so far that drink and dissipation brought me not only very low morally and physically, but also brought me a reminder of my neglect of duty in Christian Science. I had a bad attack of fever, and while suffering from this another ailment came up. An operation and all kinds of material remedies were suggested, but thanks to the little light I still had, I declared that in Truth man has dominion, and I went to work on that line. My copy of Science and Health, that had been on a shelf for months, came down. I read it, and had some good demonstrations, but could not overcome the disease, so I called a practitioner, who came to see me. As soon as she came I began to feel better, because I was sure we were both declaring the truth. Although it was a very stubborn case, I continued to improve, and after five or six treatments I was completely healed.

I am now a well man, and I am thankful to God that through Mrs. Eddy's inspiration, and her discovery of this living truth, she has been able to show to so many man's "right to the tree of life," and his real inheritance, which means power over sin, sickness, and death.
