[Written for the Sentinel.]

THE PERFECT CREATION

In gardens of eternity,
There lay a perfect seed.
The sun above
Poured light and love
To minister its need.
The loam of Life,
The dews of Truth,
Each kissed the fragile root,
Till up in sweet impertinence
There sprang a tender shoot.
It blossoms in that garden fair,
A dainty fashioned flower.
Bathed ever in the scented air,
In sunlight and in shower,
Unfolding as a summer bloom,
That marks a trellised bower.
