It is sincere gratitude that prompts me to tell others...

It is sincere gratitude that prompts me to tell others of the healing power of Christ, Truth. About the 15th of last July, my son, thirteen years of age, attempted to ride an unbroken horse. It reared and fell backward, carrying the boy to the ground. His limb was severely injured, and I called a physician to examine it. I also called another doctor. The limb was much swollen and he was suffering intense pain. The doctor gave him some drug to ease the pain, placed the limb in an ice pack and said that was all he could do; but the suffering continued. The second evening my son asked me to get a Christian Science practitioner. I did so and in a half hour he was sleeping, but soon awoke and in pain. I insisted upon his taking the drug left by the doctor, and temporary relief followed, but only for a short time. I wanted him to take more, but he refused. I then went to see a man whom I knew was a Scientist and told him my discouraging story, and I shall never forget the rebuke he gave me. He placed his hand on my shoulder, and with a smile said, "You are holding that boy from being healed." He said it so gently, so lovingly, that I asked him in what way I was doing so. His answer was, "Through mortal fear, and by mistaking human affection for the love God gives us." The sense of fear was met right there. When I got home my son was free from pain and he had no more of it. In ten days he was able to walk without crutches; there was no stiffness in the joint, the swelling went down slowly but surely.

Thank God for the truth that makes man free, and for that inspiring book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by which the world can know the truth.
