With a heart full of gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy...
With a heart full of gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy for the blessings of Christian Science, I gladly give a testimony of my healing. I had always been well until September, 1898, when my health began to fail. I went to a good physician, who told my mother, after a very through examination, that I showed unmistakable signs of serious lung trouble, and must take a vacation. He also advised a change of climate, which was impossible, but I followed his other instructions very carefully. I, however, grew thinner and weaker, until I could take but a few steps at a time. In March, 1899, I was taken very ill with stomach and bowel trouble, and as I did not improve under the care of our family physician, a specialist was called, who pronounced my case very critical. He found, upon careful examination, a serious heart complication. He called two other physicians for counsel, and they decided to operate.
This was done, but was not successful, and in a few days a second operation was performed. I then seemed to improve slowly, until the following December, when I gradually grew worse until February. I was again confined to my bed, and the physician then said the disease had spread all through my system. Another consultation was held, and an operation was decided upon. Up to this time I had been examined by seven physicians and all pronounced the disease of a most serious nature. A surgical operation was performed in March, 1900, and in April another was performed with no better results than before. In three weeks I was in a most distressing condition.
We were truly in despair, as I was so weak that another operation would be impossible, and the physicians said I would probably live but a few days. In this extremity we began to think of Christian Science. We consulted the doctor, who said to try anything, as nothing more could be done for me by materia medica. On May 25, 1900, we called a Christian Science practitioner, and there was a marked improvement from the first treatment. On May 30 I attended the Memorial day exercises, and my friends all remarked how well I looked. I have never had any return of the disease, and am now in perfect health. We never need any material medicine, as Christian Science is our only remedy. It is now over five years since my healing, and we have since had many clear demonstrations of Truth's power.—MRS. PEARL DENSMORE, Jackson, Mich.
