The question as to what is Mind and what is matter...

Maple Rapids (Mich.) Dispatch

The question as to what is Mind and what is matter, and their relation to each other has been the problem of the ages. Until this question could be settled on some satisfactory and provable basis, the mystery of human existence and man's individual continuity beyond the grave, would inevitably remain in the domain of speculation and doubt. In the present time the world is battling over this problem of matter more earnestly than ever before, and human learning was never more thoroughly divided on the subject. Recent statements by eminent material scientists, show that a mightly revolution in thought is rapidly going on. Space forbids the analysis of this change, but any careful reader of the times can easily perceive that the trend is away from former conceptions. "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh [matter] profiteth nothing." "The flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, and these are contrary the one to the other." These statements of Jesus and Paul, together with the works that flowed from the knowledge they evinced, have in the rounds of time led to the final solution of the problem, by reason of which the sick are spiritually healed as aforetime.
