There was once a time when I longed to be ill, to be quite disabled, so that I might begin again. My only peaceful moments were those following some service rendered another member of the household, and I learned how little comfort came from distractions, such as exciting novels, and how great was the need of seeking help from "the hills."

A change greater than I can describe followed a few treatments from a Christian Science practitioner, whose buoyancy and confidence in the power of Truth seemed to me marvelous, and for whose kindness I was deeply grateful.

Never before had I known such a joyous spring. Physical trouble which had continued for years was destroyed, and I was free to take forms of exercise from which I had firmly expected to be always debarred. Before knowing anything of Christian Science I used to look with utter incredulity upon those who declared themselves well and happy, though it was not often that any one made such statements in my hearing.
