Two healings and the Lord’s Prayer
In the first chapter of the textbook of Christian Science, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy gives the reader a deep, clear sense of the elements of prayer. She ends this chapter, “Prayer,” with her spiritual sense of the Lord’s Prayer, the prayer that Christ Jesus gave to his disciples, which she states “covers all human needs” (p. 16).
Many years ago when a friend and I were stay-at-home mothers, we often got together to discuss and share the revelations, inspiration, and understanding that were the result of our deeper study of Christian Science. It was a very holy time of sharing and spiritual progress.
One day when we were together, I was aware of a commotion coming from the room where our two young children were playing. Checking on the children, I found my son bleeding heavily from the face. I was very afraid—even though he was not in pain or even concerned about what was happening. I was so grateful for the peaceful sense he exhibited.
