Dealing with astrology and superstition

Live audio chat with Monica Karal, C.S.

In her introductory comments to this lively chat, Monica makes the point that every type of superstition is actually based on a belief that there is a power apart from God, good. And that belief isn't limited to voodoo and witchcraft. She says, "Think of the belief of good and bad luck in the form of lotteries. And has anyone said to you recently, 'Let’s cross our fingers!'"

During the chat she answers questions about many aspects of astrology, and provides background on Mary Baker Eddy's comment about astrology in her Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896. Other topics include: luck and lucky charms, whether or not someone can "jinx" a situation, the spiritual versus the psychic realm. She responds to people who want to communicate ideas about God to friends or family who believe in spiritualism or rely on astrology. She explains that "Christian Science shines a completely different light on how to know God's purpose for us, and also how we can trust in His continuing care."
