Love was the answer every time

As I look back on my life, I recall three very different occasions on which I witnessed immediate healing through another’s clear conviction of the power of divine Love to heal.   

Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, once healed three people in the same family at one time. “Mrs. Eddy told one of her students about this experience, which prompted the question, ‘When will we be able to do work like that?’ Looking off in the distance, Mrs. Eddy replied, ‘It is Love that heals, only Love!’ The student . . . repeated the question, ‘But when will we be able to do such work?’ This time her teacher looked directly at her and said quietly, ‘When you believe what you say. I believe every statement of Truth that I make’  ” (Yvonne Caché von Fettweis and Robert Townsend Warneck, Mary Baker Eddy: Christian Healer, Amplified Edition, p. 101).

The first healing I experienced resulting from a deep conviction of Love’s healing power was of extreme fear. I was looking forward to taking Primary class instruction in Christian Science. For a year leading up to my class, I suffered from a great fear of being attacked. I constantly felt there was someone behind me who could do me harm. When I lay in bed in the dark, my heart would pound for fear of who might be in the room. I knew it was irrational, but I couldn’t reason my way out of it.
