Wounds healed, freedom from fear gained

As a grateful subscriber to the Christian Science periodicals, I am finally getting around to submitting this testimony. Just over two years ago, I went out on my back porch and was attacked by two neighborhood dogs that had slipped through a broken fence. They aggressively bit me on my foot and hand.

I got away and immediately affirmed God’s creation of and present control over all creatures. Then I decided to walk the short distance to a neighborhood community center, which had a clinic where I knew I could immediately get the wounds bandaged. A “good Samaritan” neighbor made sure I was safe.

As I walked, I asserted my God-given strength, and reached a Christian Science practitioner on my cellphone. The practitioner reminded me that I was being shepherded by God and by the Christ, the “good shepherd” (John 10:11). She also reminded me of this passage from the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: “All of God’s creatures, moving in the harmony of Science, are harmless, useful, indestructible” (p. 514). These spiritual truths calmed me quickly.
