BETTER THAN THE FAIRYTALE ENDING

FROM THE TIME I was a girl, my dream was to someday get married and have a family.

Unfortunately, once I grew up I had plenty of disappointments in relationships—including two marriages that ended in divorce. As the years went by, I found myself either lonely and single, or going through a series of dead-end relationships. This brought me to a low point, where I was very sad, doubting that I would ever have the family I longed for. Something needed to change.

I wanted to break the pattern of letting mere emotion overshadow a levelheaded look at the qualities and aspirations of whomever I was currently involved with. I'd attended the Christian Science Sunday School growing up and loved the spiritual truths I'd learned there. I'd experienced many physical healings through prayer, but realized that I didn't even know how to begin to pray about marriage. For help on this, I called a Christian Science practitioner who'd been in the healing practice for a long time.
