GOD'S CONSISTENT GUIDANCE

THIS WEEK'S CHRISTIAN SCIENCE BIBLE LESSON ON "MIND" makes it clear that when we fully understand that God is the only Mind, we can be at peace in the midst of envy, injustice, temptation, and disaster, and be an instrument of progress and healing.

The Lesson devotes four sections to a Bible favorite, Joseph, whose life is encapsulated in the last citation in the Responsive Reading: "Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them" (Ps. 119:165). Joseph's is a solution-oriented story that helps one appreciate how God fits into the picture even through unimaginable trials.

No matter what the situation, nothing seems to offend Joseph. He is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers, tempted and then blackmailed by his master's wife, thrown into an Egyptian prison unjustly. But he continues to express intelligence, kindness, and peacefulness. He helps Egypt and its neighbors, including his own family, survive a seven-year famine. He moves through all these experiences apparently unperturbed. He continues to express uprightness whatever the circumstance.
