DETERIORATION ISN'T INEVITABLE

Metaphysical insights counteract the laws of physics.

THE EXPECTATION of physical deterioration over time is very entrenched in human thinking, perhaps because it is enshrined in a law of physics. However, through a chain of spiritual insights I had a few years ago, I began to learn how the most central metaphysical principles of Christian Science, when understood, can set aside the restrictions in the most fundamental laws of physics.

The pursuit of these insights was triggered by an experience I had in the late summer of 2004, when my right hip became painful. Walking was uncomfortable, and I couldn't cross my legs for more than a couple of minutes without pain developing.

Three friends of mine had undergone hip operations, one of them from my graduating year in college. It was as if someone were saying: "Hey, the earth's been round the sun a few times since you were born. That means you're getting older, and it's about time you had a hip replacement. Oh, and by the way — that was your 'jumping leg,' so what else can you expect?"
