THE HEALTHCARE REVOLUTION

TBD is editorial shorthand for "to be determined." It's a placeholder term that's used, say, when an issue is in the planning process but its cover subject is not yet set.

A revolution is already underway in healthcare. The dominant healthcare perspective at the moment may be based on the biochemical model. But the shape of the care that people will turn to in coming years is, in my book, TRD.

It took the better part of two centuries before scientific savants and the general public fully accepted the revolutionary discoveries of Nicolaus Copernicus. In the early 16th century, Copernicus theorized that the Earth was not the center of the universe, as had been believed for centuries. What barricaded the way to a new view? Beyond the entrenched theology and scientism of his time was the plain fact that the physical senses, especially human eyes, were fooled by appearances. And still are. Even today we look fondly at sunsets, while Earth does the spinning.
