A CONTINUING SERIES ON HOW CHURCH IS ACTIVE IN PEOPLE'S LIVES

CHURCH LIVES

Church: 'Bringing the world together'

I've always been interested in spiritual things. Even in childhood, I felt close to God, and I would pray. I also loved the Bible. But ever since I was little, I wanted to know more. How could the people of the Bible heal as they did? Why couldn't we heal the way Jesus' followers did in the early days of the Christian movement?

About four years ago, I got an answer: I was working in a hotel to support my family. A man from the United States had been staying at the hotel for several months while working in Armenia. I noticed he read the Bible. In fact, he seemed to read it as much as I did—and I was reading it a lot. I also saw he had another book with him. When I asked him about it, he explained that this book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, helped him understand the Bible better and taught him how to heal through prayer.

Well, that was all he needed to say. I was so eager to read this book that he just gave it to me. I don't have words to say how grateful I am to him for his kindness. When I started to read Science and Health, I felt as though I had found what I had been looking for all these years.
