Prayer heals hemorrhaging

Two years ago my husband and I were on a brief holiday in an apartment beside the sea. We enjoyed long walks and the peace and beauty around us. But while there I began to pass blood—something which had not occurred for over 20 years, when my menstrual cycle ceased. There was no telephone in the unit and our days were quiet, without the busyness of our normal lifestyle. So this gave me time to pray.

For over 50 years, my husband and I have had the conviction that the Science revealed to Mary Baker Eddy, which she shared in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, is the Comforter promised by Christ Jesus—and we have seen that it heals. So I felt confident that prayer could heal this abnormal condition.

That week the subject for the Bible Lesson Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly was "God the Only Cause and Creator." I decided to study it closely and read it a number of times each day. One of the passages contained Jesus' words "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength" (Mark 12:30). This meant to me that I should not allow a place for fear in my thought. So I often took quiet time to thank God for His loving care and to remember that He was causing only good for me.
