Spiritual solution to incurable condition

When I was working as a sales consultant for a pipe organ company, I was invited to a Church of Christ, Scientist, to examine its pipe organ, for the possibility of making additions to it. While I was in the church, I definitely felt a spirit of calm and peace and order.

So, after I finished the consulting job, I decided to take a few minutes to just sit in the church. Both my wife and I were going to be phased out of our jobs, and I was feeling uncertain as to where my career was headed. While I was sitting in the auditorium, I saw two quotations on the church wall:"Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32). And "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need" (Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 494). I said to myself, "If those two things are true, then I need nothing else."

And that day I began a search to know more about Christian Science. As I began to study the Bible and Science and Health, I was drawn to the spiritual ideas that would guide me in career decisions, relationships, family issues, and other areas of personal growth; however, the idea that physical healing could happen through prayer alone seemed foreign to me.
